JOHN MacARTHUR NEEDS TO TALK WITH ROSALIND MOSS.
Before she became a Catholic, staff apologist Rosalind Moss used to be a member of John MacArthur's congregation, Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. He runs a ministry called Grace to You. Its motto is "Unleashing God's Truth One Verse at a Time." The unleashing is done chiefly through a widely-syndicated radio program.
In a June letter to his ministry's supporters, MacArthur wrote about John Paul II and the "amazing release of emotion" that accompanied his death. "From politicians and media pundits to Hollywood celebrities and everyday citizens, everyone had praise for John Paul II, his gentle ways and his social and political achievements as a world leader and statesman. I can understand that.
"What I cannot understand," continued MacArthur, "is the response of some Evangelicals to what matters most about the pope: his beliefs about God and the gospel. … Influential leaders embraced the deceased pope as a brother in Christ and the Catholic church as just another Christian denomination. …
"During the Reformation, countless men and women died rather than deny the biblical truths of salvation. Countless others today are giving their lives as missionaries to people lost in the darkness and guilt of Catholicism."
MacArthur goes on to write about the "damning error" that is Catholicism and notes that he has released a new 90-minute lecture called "Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System." He says that "the church I pastor is loaded with people who were saved out of the Catholic church. … A longtime Grace to You board member and dear friend of mine is a former Catholic. He speaks with great emotion about the bondage he and his wife lived under."
How many times have we heard these claims before? "The Catholic Church is not really Christian." "Catholics believe you 'earn' your salvation through good works." "Catholicism is based on guilt, not truth." "People are in 'bondage' to Catholicism–and we need to save them."
Each Sunday 7,000 people attend MacArthur's church. This is what he tells them about an institution that was around for nineteen centuries before he was born and that is now headed by a man who shows not a hint of MacArthur's arrogance. It is MacArthur who claims a divine commission: "I do have a mandate from God to compare what others teach to the gospel of the Bible." He says, "'Does the pope teach the gospel?' is a valid question."
Rosalind Moss left John MacArthur's church because she realized that, yes, the pope really does teach the gospel–and that John MacArthur does not.
The Grace to You ministry's letterhead has this slogan at the bottom: "The Bible Teaching of John MacArthur." Benedict XVI is more modest in his claims. His letterhead does not have at the bottom "The Bible Teaching of Benedict XVI" because the Pope is not trying to push his own agenda.
Instead, he is the custodian of what has been passed down through the centuries. His job is not to refashion the Bible in his own image but to convey to us what each of his predecessors conveyed to the people of their time.
Grace to You is built around one man. It may have many employees, but when John MacArthur dies, his ministry will die. His flock will scatter, taking with them the silly prejudices he has imbued them with.
When Benedict XVI dies there will be another pope to succeed him, and another, and another, until the end of time. Each of them will demonstrate to those with open minds and hearts that, yes, the pope does teach the gospel.
That alone, besides false official doctrine, is reason enough to be and remain separate from the unholy amalgamation of Rome, as well as from liberal Prot churches as well (which tend to be those closest to Rome.
The Gospel according to MacArthur is also the Gospel according to the word of God.IMO he is the most biblically correct bible expositor since the passing of the late lamented English author, scholar, and professor at both Oxford and Cambridge C.S. Lewis.
Nothing in divinely inspired Holy Writ establishes a Papist religion such as the Roman Church, nor does it give any mere man authority to grant salvation to penitent sinners. Salvation by faith alone in Christ alone was the watchword of the European reformers Luther, Calvin, Knox, et al, and is MacArthur's as well. Love him or hate him, he preaches the gospel of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection for the salvation of all who believe in Him and that's what counts as far as I'm concerned.

He's not anti-Catholic, he's anti- false doctrine propagated by any and all denominations. I don't believe for a NY minute that he hates Catholics, it's not hateful to expose false doctrine that sends countless numbers of people around the globe to hell every year that goes by.

“John Macarthur is a member of several pseudo-Christian orgs, such as the National Religious Broadcasters, Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals and The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. When I recently called the GCC “Pastor of the Day” to confirm if Macarthur was a member of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), he responded, “That depends on where you’re going with this.” I know a Christian who recently emailed GCC to ask if Macarthur was a member of the above mentioned orgs without ever receiving a reply.
This paper has exposed the fact that GCC has been infiltrated by the CGM. This was not an expose of John Macarthur’s doctrine and teachings. There have been several articles written detailing the true teachings as well as the false teachings, compromise, and ecumenism of John Macarthur. One of the better articles on Macarthur can be read here.
Pastor George Zeller, M.A., Ph.D., of Middletown Bible Church, 349 East Street, Middletown, CT 06457, has compiled a 100+ page book showing what he believes to be Macarthur’s doctrinal errors, which is available for $6.00 plus shipping. (I haven’t read this book.) GCC is not only a California non-profit religious corporation, but it is a 501(c) 3 entity. According to the courts, a corporation is “a creature of the state” and the state “is sovereign over the corporation.” Grace Church leaders may say that they depend on the Lord Jesus Christ for protection and that He is their sovereign, but by incorporating, they show that the state is their sovereign, as they must now follow many state regulations; and it is the state that they really depend on for “protection.” For most of US history it was illegal for a church to incorporate. Like many corporate leaders, John Macarthur is well compensated financially. I don’t know what salary John Macarthur receives from GCC or how much he receives for writing his books and giving talks, etc., but it is in the public record that for the 2006 calendar year he received $123,785 for being President of The Masters College and Seminary 134. and he received $160,363 for being President of Grace To You. 135. That’s $284,148.00, not counting his church salary, book royalties and speaking fees.
Other GCC leaders are also well compensated. For 2006, the Executive Director of Grace To You, Phil Johnson, received $193,430. John Macarthur’s son-in-law, Kory Welch, as Video Production Director at Grace To You received $102,277 and other Grace To You board members received in excess of $100,000.
The leaders of The Masters College and Seminary are also well compensated with their Sr. VP, Richard Mayhue, receiving $199,211 in 2006. And the public record, though limited, shows that their Seminary Professors are also well paid with one receiving $146,882 for 2006 (this was the highest Seminary Professor salary listed).

Indeed. The final claim is that "the pope does teach the gospel," yet i challenge anyone to show me where Francis has clearly preached the gospel to the lost such as we see in Acts. "Saying Mass" will not do it.
