Thanks for posting this commentary that is indeed worthy of consideration. However, you mis-titled it. In the original it's "Orthodox belief in God ..."; not "Orthodox belief in G-d ...".

Don't be concerned about writing the word "God" because you've misunderstood that it is "God's name". I'm far from a religious scholar but I do know that God's name isn't "God" ... it's Jehovah or Yahweh.

Orthodox Jews do not write out any manifestation of G-d’s name, for if the medium upon which the Name is written would be torn, erased, or otherwise destroyed, it would be like desecrating the Name. And there are many names to designate G-d; each one has a different connotation, emphasizing different aspects of G-d and that is why there are several names, not just G-d. Perhaps in the gentile version of the bible they insist that the Name is Jehovah or Yahweh, but those are only a couple of the names used to refer to G-d. Your statement that “ I do know that G*d’s name isn’t “G*d” ... it’s Jehovah or Yahweh..” simply reflects your not knowing that.

Chassids write G-d, even electronically (read there’s some dispute about whether to do it electronically.
