A pastor with a tentmaking job does it out of love for God. The professionals do it to change the world, then for the money, eventually for the retirement and benefits. Somewhere in that process, the people just become a revenue source and scripture becomes another empty corporate mission statement.
I came up wit âprofessional Christianâ a few years back. I am a firm believer of Jesus as the Son of God but what has happened is a monetization of salvation. And that is very wrong.. Matthew 17:24 is the most ignored scripture in the book. There Jesus refused to pay the temple tax with his money and paid it with a fish. His reasoning is paraphrased as âKings do not tax their childrenâ In referring to his disciples He included them in his statement using the term âWEâ.
