SinnFein mixed its militaristic Catholicism and violence with a political desire to see all Ireland united under one country, as a Catholic country and the Brits kicked out. There was nothing really Catholic or Christian about who they were and what they did.

You missed the point.

The point is that disputes between Catholics and Orthodox, Protestants carries over to militant groups who carry the banner of whichever group is involved in the conflict.

Therefore, it is necessary to hold ***civil discourse*** on the history and origins of the conflicts to diffuse and to aim to diffuse carryover to violent subgroups.
