“When a nation abandons God, He abandons them...”

I do not agree with this. I believe that when a nation abandons God, he allows them to to experience the consequences of that, but God would NEVER abandon His creation because that goes against the nature of Who He is. His love for us is without limit. WE are the ones who choose to love Him...or not. Of course, we will suffer for not choosing Him....but He will use this in His great Wisdom to influence us to rethink our choices and hopefully turn back to Him.

Not abandon in the permanent sense of the word, but in Scripture, when Israel did not follow His Laws, did He not allow the people to have poor, oppressive leadership? No, He would never turn His back forever, but He does chastise those whom He loves...
