The Church is about as popular in Europe these days as free market capitalism, individual liberty, and private property rights.

Sorry; this article is simply nonsense. Greeks voted OXI because, right or wrong, they’ve had it with the Germans and the other No. Europeans and their “austerity”. 11,000,000 dead at the hands of the Huns and the West, including Greece, forgave Germany’s debt just 8 years after the war ended. Greeks don’t get their political marching orders from hierarchs. That doesn’t mean The Church is in trouble. It may mean that some hierarchs are put of touch. As the Greeks say, “Big Surprise!”
That is where it all starts. When you let God slip, you begin feeling entitled and that you are owed things. You are entitled to other peoples money, you are owed things you did not earn.
Instead of a heart of thankfulness to our Creator, your heart is filled with all sorts of bad things.
