I can only tell you what the Church teaches. We acknowledge that not everyone who is divorced wants to be. A divorced person who remains celibate is in communion with the Church unless they remarry.

As far as people being the indirect cause of the sins of humanity, well that includes everyone. What we do, for good or bad affects everyone like ripples in a pond, because humanity is a family- God's children. Jesus died for all of us, and we have the choice to avail ourselves of His Salvation.

I don't know what any one else teaches... But that's a Catholic perspective. God bless you!

So am I to take this to mean that if a divorced person remarries they are unconditionally considered to be no longer in communion with the Church? Isn't that in direct conflict with what Jesus Himself said in Matthew 19:9?

How about what Jesus said about marriage rather than jumping thru catholic hoops. Seems to me HE was very clear about marriage....however Vatican ll gives the catholic lots of ways to annul their marriage, skirting around the obvious, which is why many call catholic annulment ..”catholic divorce”.

I've worked with many catholics who divorce and sleep around, have abortions and in fact believe it's a woman's right. And they still go to mass and proclaim their allegiance to the church.
