This is a good post to refer to Roman Catholics who wish to understand why non-Catholic Christians follow the Lord and the RCs follow the RCC first and foremost.
If I might attempt to make a final statement. When I pray to Our Lord Jesus Christ, I am thinking of Him in pictures provided for us in Holy Scripture. I pray to Him as he is being scouraged at the pillar, as he commands the cripple to walk, as He addresses the throngs when speaking from a boat, as He thrashes the moneychangers from the temple, as he weeps upon hearing of Lazarus brother of Martha and Mary and good friends all, as He sups for the last time in the upper room, as he encourages the woman at the well, as he chastises the Pharisees and Saducees for hypocrisy.
I hope you understand my point. Holy Scriptures gives us God's account of God's movements among men. I take those, immerse in them, and commune with Our Lord and Savior based upon the truth imparted. It is absolutely direct.
Do you deny that, because I am Catholic, I am unable to do this?

We pray to God the Father, through faith in Christ and His Work on the Cross.

( Adversity in life & death is inevitable; Stress is optional through faith in Christ.)

Perhaps it would be better to think of Him as He is in heaven now, the risen, glorified Son of God who is sitting at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us.
The Jesus who knocked Paul off his horse, who appeared to John on the Island of Patmos, who has all authroity and power.

As a Catholic much more is required of you. So, if what you said is true the Catholic Church would consider you not a Catholic. Or, you are not including all that you do and believe.

(For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus)

NO, as instead I encourage it, if you look to the sinless bodily resurrected Lord Jesus to save you on His account as a damned and destitute sinner, and then follow Him.
The problem is that for every RC who only talks about praying to the sinless Lord Jesus as their Savior there are a thousand more who talk about praying to the sinless bodily resurrected Mary of Catholicism to rescue/help them due to her merits.
