Not true. A few sects believe that sort of thing, but it’s pretty rare. The Catholic Church always taught that God gave His grace to virtuous pagans, who did the best they knew how. And of course the Bible indicates that many virtuous Jews went to heaven.
Catholics believe there’s an essential difference between those who break away from the Church for evil or selfish reasons and those who do so because of mistaken beliefs. As a Catholic, I’ve gotten on well and worked with Evangelicals and other Protestants. And I certainly know many Protestants of different kinds who are tolerant of and happy to work with Catholics.

Also, Catholicism has sects? And mainstream Catholicism does not teach that it is the only way to be saved? And sects that disagree with that teaching are what? Heretical?
