Angels learn about grace through watching the church because grace is not a facet of God that angels can experience, therefore comprehend.

The history of Protestantism is one of “children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine.”

Someone posted that to you to accuse Protestants of the only ones in error, not Catholics.

I'm thankful that there seems to be some small headway being made on these forums to show that the debate should not be framed as Catholic vs. Protestant, but as "Christian vs. All Other Beliefs". The latter group contains LDS, JW, Roman Catholic, and other man-made organizations centering around leaders other than only Lord Jesus Christ.

It is a tragedy that none of them disputes the content, but continually lambast the posters.

Well yaker the real tragedy is that none of you have listened the first 1000 times and we have come to realize anything more is a waste of our breath. Breath we might need for something important like, well pretty much anything that doesn't involve prots.

It really is but it’s so much easier to label a group and then attack the group.

It’s hypocritical considering that they accuse Protestantism of being some 30,000 different denominations and interpretations of Scripture, and then demand that we accept their label of all non-Catholics as being *Protestant* and try to apply group think to us.

They want to have their cake and eat it too.

Is this your opus?

I would genuinely miss you verga and hope you remain a FR RF participant.

You make preaching to the choir more eventful.

A gluttonous but not intellectual exercise.

Interesting that “made known” now becomes “teaching” and the Catholic Church would presume to teach the manifold wisdom of God.

“Principalities and powers” is a reference to angels.

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

1Pe 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Why don't you guys ever believe what God said...Angels are clearly NOT principalities and powers...You guys constantly pull out some supposed Christian truth and we constantly post the actual truth from scripture...What God actually says doesn't seem to faze you guys at all...

Now who can match THAT for good-natured humor. Not I.

SO, I’ve seen Jesus up close and personal in BOTH ROMAN catholic and Non Denominational services.

My observation is that about as many Roman Catholics will be saved as protestants ————————meaning not very many.

We are told many times to test what we hear, And you mentioned the real test ........

1Jn 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
1Jn 4:2 This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.

——————do they acknowledge Jesus and that he came in a human body.

Regarding the “discussions” here, yes it frustrating but we are called to correct fellow believers and if we don’t, it is just as bad of sin and as teaching them to sin.

This is working out our salvation “in fear and trembling”. So many we both have eyes and ears this morning.

He/she keeps posting over-and-over again the same comments from Augustine - all while apparently not knowing - or possibly not caring - that Augustine had a very different belief than the one aspect he/she is presenting.

Yup; that Auggie was so stupid he didn't know that WHAT HE WAS saying would NOT be 'official' church doctrine in the years to follow.

Remember, as John Henry Newman, a former Protestant who knew Protestantism very well wrote:

Why are you telling Catholics what we believe?

Heck; when we POST what Rome has produced; you guys fall all over yourselves to wish it away!

that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.

St. Thomas Aquinas speculates as to the truth behind this text in his commentary on Ephesians:

The means through which the manifold wisdom of God is made known to [the angels] is designated by his saying “through the church.” We bring nothing to the table.............

The convoluted logic whether Roman Catholic or Protestant is sometimes amazing. Note the word “speculates”, We are still fighting agnosticisms or “secret knowledge”

I read that verse and think that the angels are watching what God is doing, not what the church is doing.
