I believe that Adam & Eve were the progenitors of the human race but one question has always bothered me. After Cane killed Able he left his parents. Genesis has him traveling to the "Land of Nod" where he met and married a woman.

If Adam, Eve, & Cane were the only humans where did the people of "Nod" come from?
