As a Catholic I don’t know from one second to the next whether I will die in a state of grace and go to see the Lord. So I literally walk on eggshells.

How many times a day do I utter the words, “Forgive me, Lord?” I don’t know. How un-Christian is that?

How sad to live your life like that...That is not what God intended...We are not under bondage...

We also utter 'God forgive me' all day long...But we don't walk on eggshells...We have no fear of being thrown out of the family of God...We have no fear that we are going to un-adopted children of God...

We utter 'God forgive me' because we are remorseful that we have sinned against God...He gives us the means to be good but we constantly fail him...Thank God he doesn't fail us...

OK, then dig this: I’m retired now, but my coworkers in the Calvinist & Evangelical traditions said unto to me that if one is truly saved, then one stops sinning, especially those that are repetitive sins. God’s grace is that powerful, they maintained.

Being Catholic, I was also subject to their daily efforts to convert me to Christianity. Give us the airfare, they said, and we’ll journey to the Vatican and debate Pope Benedict XVI into total theological defeat.

Dominus vobiscum, y’all.
