The Catholic church never works for conversions. There are people who misunderstand the mission of Christians, especially of the Catholic church, said Cardinal Mar George Alenchery, the major archbishop of Syro Malabar Church.
The major archbishop, who is on a pastoral visit to the diocese of Belthangady till May 5, said, "Conversion is a personal response of a person to God. Nobody can force or coerce a person. The church witnesses the charity of Christ and proclaims Christian valuestruth, justice, love and harmonyto others. This attracts people. It is not something which we create, it is something they (people) request.
"Evangelization is not converting people. Actually conversion is not a business of a pastor or missionary. Conversion happens in the mind of a person while listening to the word of God. Ghar Wapsi is too simple a reaction to a complex problem," he added.
The archbishop said his pastoral visit is to maintain a contact with the clergy, laity and an occasion to rejuvenate the energies of those engaged in the work of church. ``A pastoral visit helps the bishop to evaluate the effectiveness of the structures and agencies designed for pastoral services, take account of the circumstances and difficulties and determine more accurately the priorities,'' he said adding this was the 16th year of the establishment of Belthangady as a diocese.
The archbishop visited St Alphonsa Forane Church, Kankanady, where he was met Mangalore diocese bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Belthangady Mar Lawrence Mukkuzhy and vicar general Fr Joseph Valiaparambil among others.
A religious harmony meet was also held on Bishop's House Campus in Belthangady on Friday. Religious leaders Sri Kshetra Dharmastala dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, Kukke Sri Narasimha Mutt seer Sri Vidyaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Union minister for law and justice D V Sadananda Gowda, ministers B Ramanath Rai, Vinaykumar Sorake, U T Khader and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel were present.
Did you purposely omit the following section?
29 Q. But if a man through no fault of his own is outside the Church, can he be saved?A. If he is outside the Church through no fault of his, that is, if he is in good faith, and if he has received Baptism, or at least has the implicit desire of Baptism; and if, moreover, he sincerely seeks the truth and does God's will as best he can such a man is indeed separated from the body of the Church, but is united to the soul of the Church and consequently is on the way of salvation
That part's bible...
the graces of which are mediated through His Church, which is His Body.
That part's a fable invented by the Catholic religion which calls itself that church that graces must be mediated thru...
Thank you for finding that and pasting
Working for the conversion of non Catholics, and that includes people who are catholic by baptism but who do not follow the teachings of the Chlurxh, IS what Catholics do
Working for the conversion of souls IS what St. Francis advised us to do
Working for the conversion of souls is what this bishop did in his extensive study of biblical theology and philosophy and in his many years of teaching faith formation
Working for the conversion of souls is what them
Pope John Paul II did his while life, as in when he hid from the nazis in Poland preserving himself to later pparticipate in the Second Vatican Council and then in treating the Muslim, who shot him, with love from God, and forgiving him, and later visiting him after his conversion o the Catholic faith
JPII didnt actually convert the shooter, of course, but he did, naturally, work, for the guy’s conversion
JPII would never take credit for that conversion by saying he converted the guy
You should read the story.
I would never be able to convert a Catholic who despises Vatcan II, into a person who doesn’t despise it, but I can suggest learning more about it, how some priests practice the liturgy by interpreting Vatican II by reading it, praying the Mass in keeping with it, but maintaining reverence lost by the American church’s interpretation of it
And I’ll expect all the flame and hope for your sake I don’t get the flames due any missionary
No, I did not purposely leave it out.
And since when were Hindus and Buddhists baptized?
3/27/2013 Five years ago, in a highly-publicized event, Magdi Cristiano Allam, an Egyptian-born Muslim, naturalized Italian citizen, former contributor to Manifesto and Repubblica, and vice-director of the Corriere della Sera, left Islam and converted to Catholicism. The event received significant press coverage because this notable convert was baptized by then-Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s Basilica during the Easter Vigil on March 22, 2008.
Allam was instructed in the Catholic doctrine by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, head of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, and was sponsored by Maurizio Lupi, a high-ranking member of the Forza Italia party, a political party that was founded by Silvio Berlusconi, the former prime minister. You’d have thought with that behind him, the Faith would have stuck.
Unfortunately, after five years as a Catholic, Allam has announced in a very public way that he has left the Catholic Church. “I believe in Jesus . . . . but I no longer believe in the Church,” he wrote in an editorial in the Italian daily Il Giornale.
“My conversion to Catholicism, which came at the hands of Benedict XVI during the Easter Vigil on March 22, 2008,” Allam explains in the Monday-edition of the right-wing Milan daily newspaper Il Giornale, “I now consider over, in line with the end of his pontificate.”
While he describes his decision as “extremely painful,” he attributes the decision to a variety of factors, all of which he addresses in his editorial.
A number of things apparently triggered Allam’s decision. The most important and overriding reason in Allam’s view was the Church’s accommodating policies regarding Islam, a position which is resulting he says in practical dhimmitude and impairing the proclamation of the Gospel.
I see you quoted the second edition of JP II’ catechism. Do you know why the first edition was pulled so soon after it’s release?
It’s because it contained outright heresy.
“Bishop” Tony Palmer expressed his desire of converting to Catholicism to Pope Francis. Pope Francis discouraged Palmer from doing so, stating that Palmer need to stay where he was in order to “build bridges”. What good are bridges if nobody crosses them?
Oh good. You found a statement if Catholicism from a papal assassin
Well, it certainly goes to show how John Paul II could not convert him. He forgave him and met with him
Nothing either of you two have stated or posted has proven that the post Vatican II church does not teach false ecumenism (despite the lip service given to EENS) ....the false ecumenism brought to us by Vatican II.
And yet the same bishop said "the Catholic Church never works for conversions".
He also left out #21-28. What’s your point?
He works for conversions for God, not for the Church
False ecumenism.
Wha?
Anyone practicing the faith knows the biographies of the saints. At least a few saints
None would ever say they were responsible for directly converting souls. They work for the conversion of souls. Not for the church They are not told they are good Catholics for filing some quota
They work for God.
Magdi Cristiano Allam was not a papal assassin. You seem to be very confused.
Whatever
The Catholic Church is not in the business of recruitment
So you disagree with the Catholic Church having sent missionaries to foreign lands? And those missionaries who were martyred died in vain, is that correct?
Missionaries go out to spread the Gospel not to recruit.
[18] And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. [19] Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. Matthew, Chapter 28
Working for conversion. Yep
Do you believe that the Catholic Church is God’s Church? Working for conversions for the Catholic Church = working for conversions for God. I’m not understanding what your point is.
And if you don’t know what I mean by false ecumenism, you should read up on it.
