I know when I was in that works based religion, I made no effort to resist sin. I enjoyed it, as did most of the others I knew in that religion. Keep up the good work.

Catholicism is not a WBR....if you read most of the posts like those of Metmom, you will realize that some non-practicing Catholics considered the church TOO restrictiveand wouldn't allow them to have any fun at all.....if you enjoyed the freedom to sin in the RCC...you certainly didn't pay close attention to your upbringing (somewhat apparent now)..Enjoy your new-found freedom to make your own ecliastical decisions. It is so much easier when you get to make your own rules....I tried that as a child but soon learned that there were authorities in charge who knew much better that I did how life should be lived....Mom, Dad, elders, Church...AMAZING how much these people knew.

Then you hear such fun things like OSAS...which apparently means that once you accept that Christ is your savior....you can do anything you want and you are still in like Flynn....WOW I may have to look into that.....

Yep, when I was in the RCC, I was a terrible sinner, as were the vast majority of the people in my catholic high school, but I enjoyed sinning, and some others were worse than me. I was never self satisfied, in that I knew it was a works based religion, and I committed mortal sins everyday, and I knew I could never lead a good enough life to make it. It seemed I was powerless to stop it, so I figured, eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you die. Actually, I couldn't have cared less about the church, I was only there to play hockey. I could play hockey pretty well too, even if I am tooting my own horn. 😆 Thank you for the good wishes about enjoying my new found freedom. I am not in RCC bondage anymore. It's a beautiful thing. Don't knock it till you've tried it. 😇 Yes, OSAS is also a beautiful thing. You should indeed look into it, though I am not sure it would work for you, because, even though it has been pointed out about 3,976 times, it appears to me that you still think you can have faith and then live like Hell. Let me think about that for a minute.........ah, no you can't, so we will have disagreement among the troops. 😱 Thank God those nice guys came along. I owe them a lot. Try it, you'll like it.

Metmom, do you suppose terycarl is one of those people who cringes at the thought, that somewhere, there is someone, who is enjoying life? Certainly is possible. I thought, however, it was in like Flint, not Flynn, but what do I know? I am just a poor OSAS kind of guy. 😂 It's a beautiful thing.

LOL kidding of course.. I live in a very RC area.. let me assure you that Catholic have no fear of sin.. they can just bring in their list to the priest, say 3 Hail Mary's and 3 Our Fathers ...and they are good to go ..I hear blasphemy , cursing, filthy jokes ...I see drunkenness, regularly in people that just ate christ...

Then there is always the "back up"purgatory

... See terycarl the saved hate their sin..they have no desire to roll around in it then take a bath to "look" presentable.

We are no longer slaves to sin ... we no longer love our sin or take joy in it.. When we sin..we run to the cross because we know we must thank our Savior for forgiving it ..

I never said that I left Catholicism because it was too restrictive.

Fact is, it is a legalistic system of works that does put people into bondage to rules and regulations, sacraments and ritual.

Jesus came to set us free. How is one free when you have to constantly jump through the hoops to try to ensure the salvation that He already paid for? Answer is, you aren't.
