Paul in Corinthians says:
23For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, This is my body which is fore you. Do this in remembrance of me.f 25In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lords death until he comes."
He received from the Lord -- "for as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup..."
Sounds like the disciples ate bread and drank wine and not the actual flesh and blood of Christ as inspired by The Lord himself to Paul.
I would think if Christ was being literal, there would have been nothing of his body left to crucify. I don't understand why some denominations have an issue understanding this -- don't you?

"No it ain't cause that would destroy the body of Christ"
Oh ye of little faith.
