When the Catholic Church put scripture in second place to their tradition they put their followers in a rather untenable position when discussing scripture didn’t they.
This is why you fail. This is an incorrect understanding of the Church which I'm sure was taught to you by those who stand against the Church and your statement here only serves to perpetuate the lie.
The Church lays Her authority first on Christ as She is His Bride. Just as He opened the eyes of the Apostles on the Road to Emmaus, He taught the Apostles how to understand Scripture in light of the Gospel. This is the Deposit of Faith (Big "T" Tradition). Scripture is the inerrant Word of God, written. However, just like the Apostles needed explanation to see what had been hidden in the Old Testament since the dawn of time, so the Church has endeavored to explain through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit what is written for unity of faith through unity of understanding. Finally, the Church relies in the Holy Spirit Who was promised to teach Her all things by Christ. Through this inspiration, the Church has learned and taught an unfolding revelation She has shared. This is the Magisterium of the Church.
One way to look at it is that Scripture is the foundation, Tradition is the perspective to understand Scripture, and the Magisterium is the ear to hear the Spirit as He teaches us all things.
