I don’t see anywhere in the Cardinal’s words where he is endorsing homosexual activity, only that we should be more merciful in our approach.
He certainly isn't condemning it, is he?
He said that the past approach in Catholic schools and other institutions had often been to dictate rules and tell people that they were for your own good.
only that we should be more merciful in our approach.
For the last 40 years Catholic priests have went out of their way to be “merciful” to abortionists, homosexuals, and the rest of these public sinners. You seldom ever hear a homily about the effects of this sinful behavior on the person or on society. And look at where that’s gotten the Church? Seminaries that were loaded with homosexuals that lied their way into Church, committed sex abuse that has cost the Church some 3 billion dollars. Francis knows all this. Now he wants to be more “merciful” to these people? What he needs to start doing is quit purging the Church of faithful bishops and get rid of the fruitcakes like Wuerl who has let this garbage continue for years. But will he do that? Of course not. He’s too liberal. But as far as being more “merciful”? Give me a break. We need the exact opposite. An inquisition against these characters who are promoting evil of the first degree.
That’s what he wants you to see. He’s too smart (i.e., crafty) to approve homosexual acts. But by saying nothing about the Church’s past “approach” except that it was “hurtful,” and by hammering the message that there are no “answers,” only “creative approaches” for “individuals,” the message is clear: we must tell those who commit sodomy that they have nothing to confess, and may receive Communion.
That’s the bottom line: We are “hurting” people by telling them to stop receiving Communion until they stop committing sodomy.
