Don't use your words to hold you in bondage, but use your words to free you from them. The Bible tells you that "You are snared by the words of your mouth." Your words can keep you in a situation or condition or can free you from them. In my own case years ago I was eating bananas just fine, but this one time I ate one and got sick to my stomach. And for awhile everytime someone offered me something with bananas in them I was quick to say, "I can't eat them" or "They make me sick to my stomach." And sure enough from that time on if I just took a few bites of a banana I got sick to my stomach. But, one day I was watching TV and the man preaching was preaching on- The power of positive confession. And he described me perfectly when he said, "You probably ate something one time and got sick and started confessing that you can't eat it." So, what did I do I changed my words. I started confessing that I can eat bananas and after awhile of confessing that one day I was led to eat one so I did, then I had another one and sure enough I could eat them again and I still can. Notice, I was keeping myself in bondage by my own words. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and those that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." I was not able to eat the fruit of bananas because I was eating the fruit of my lips.
I've had a sickness changed by confessing God's word. I had a serious condition that needed healing and again thank God I came across a teaching that led to me receiving my healing. He was teaching on using God's word as medicine as in Proverbs 4:20-22 and God's word being seed that you plant and water by speaking it as in 1Corinthians 3:6-8. So, daily I would do just as those scriptures said, I would look at the word with my eyes and keep it in my ears by confessing it. I didn't fully understand what I was doing but I was determined to just do it and after awhile of confessing God's healing that condition was gone. So, you don't have to just put up with things as they are you can take the word of God and change them.
I think it was Don Juan who told Carlos “argue for your limitations and you get to keep them”
Thank you, I needed this encouragement.
Thank you!!
A dear friend just said this to me a couple of weeks ago and now I read it here. Time to stay positive. Time to leave doubt behind. Time for change! God is in control!
