You know that Jesus did not speak English and that the Bible is a translation? Trying to parse God’s will and biblical history on the basis of pronouns and emphasis rather than totality of context is not the way to go.
Besides, the only reason this is a discussion is because Catholic haters are trying to change the history of the church. The church that Peter built, the Catholic Church, was founded by Christ, through Peter. Catholic haters had better find another reason to hate.
From what I have read, this has become sadly a Catholic basing thread. It does not surprise me at all.

You mean the Christian CHurch, don’t you :-) But seriously, I’m LCMS, and I’m in agreement that Peter was Christ’s right hand man, basically. I suspect that what Christ meant was for Peter to take over as overseer (for lack of a better term), watching over the fledgling Church, once Christ returned to heaven.
