i am confused..
is this guy saying that catholics are not christians??
does not that make him a bigot, not unlike the KKK?
That could be one unsaid, but implied point. I think the article is more of ‘they became the wrong type of Christians’ from his Baptist point of view. That is why I believe that all of us who follow Jesus, should focus on what unites us and not what differences we have. Perhaps due to my Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) upbringing.
The headline? As a longtime writer, I assure you that the headline might possibly have been written by Bob Allen, but far more probably by the Baptist News page editor. Page editors do headlines,
subheads, banners, photos, captions and cutlines, etc. The Mohler quote about "the differences between the Roman Catholic Church and evangelical Christianity "? He's not saying Catholics aren't Christians. He's saying Catholics aren't "evangelical" Christians. One could dispute that on the basis of the bare words without context, but in context it just means Catholics aren't "Sola Scriptura," which is of course true.
Albert Mohler is one of my favorite writers: highly well-informed, intelligent, makes his strong points clearly and is always fair, courteous and respectful.
A good model for us all.
