Why would some of John’s disciples, who left to follow Jesus need to be rebaptized, since their sins were remitted by the baptism of John? But was John’s baptism valid if the people in Acts had to be rebaptized?
And we know nothing of Peter or the others. Yet, they received the Holy Spirit.
We also hear nothing of Apollos being re-baptized, just that Priscilla and Aquila ...”26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.”
If baptism in water for remission of sin was so important it would be mentioned far more than it is.
