Spiritu, all children in the Church are considered "legitimate," in the sense that there is simply no category of illegitimacy or bastardy in Canon Law applying the children.

The parents may have had an illegitimate marriage, but there are no illegitimate children. Not in Canon Law.

I agree, just wasn’t clear. The state uses that term, but not the Church.
