Why do we need born again? We have the living, breathing Christ in the Holy Eucharist. No more is needed. And we have God’s one holy, apostolic and Catholic Church. The Church of saints, martyrs, and stigmatists, and the Church that through Petrine authority assembled the definitive books on the Bible through infallible interpretation. Why do we need anyone else’s interpretation?
Interesting that when Catholics get all in a snit about stuff that's not found directly spelled out in Scripture (like sola Scriptura) but when something IS clearly spelled out, they dismiss it as *nonsense*.
No, with all due respect to Steelfish, it only shows some ignorance on his/her part. Catholics do not benefit from saying things such as “born again nonsensical stuff”. Having said that, as NKP_Vet has pointed out in another post, Christ also mentioned the need to be born of water (as well as Spirit) and most who speak of being “born again” believe that water baptism is not necessary for salvation.
