What day was Yeshua crucified?

The short answer is what we now call Friday and He rose after the Sabbath was over.

Race has confused apples with oranges, it's quite simple...

Yeshua makes two almost identical statements, here they are.

Matthew 12

The Scribes and Pharisees Ask for a Sign

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”

39 But He answered and said to them, “A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Then...

Matthew 16

The Pharisees and Sadducees Seek a Sign

16 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; 3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Once again you have the sign of the prophet Yonah but no three days and three nights, that's because there were three days and three nights between these two statements!

Matthew 13: 1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

Matthew 15: 32 Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”

15: 39 And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala.

Which brings us to the statement " A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”

First you would think that 'wicked and adulterous' would be in the same catagory, not here.

Adulterous = running after false doctrine, i.e. Jezebel's teaching.

Anyway... sign of the prophet Yonah!

2 Kings 14:25 25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath unto the Sea of the Plain, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet who was from Gathhepher.

Restored borders of Israel, The Six Day War.

The 'Heart' of the Earth is the region of Galilee. Not to be confused with the bowels of the earth. Here's another prophesy Yeshua completed...

Tehillim 49: 3 (4) My mouth shall speak chochmot; and the meditation of my lev tevunot (understanding).
4 (5) I will incline mine ear to a mashal; I will disclose my dark saying upon the kinnor (harp).

Kinneret (Hebrew: כִּנֶּרֶת) is a moshava on the southwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee.

The sea is harp and heart shaped, a beating heart that is. Like I said, simple, all you have to do is read five chapters in a row.

40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Sorry, but you can't get 3 days and 3 nights out of a Friday crucifixion - no way, no how. The Hebrews start counting at sundown when Yesua's body was placed in the tomb.

John 19:38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds. 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

If you will recall, the women followed the body to the tomb and saw it placed inside. Obviously they didn't see the annointing because they intended to do it ASAP, after purchasing what was required. The thinking by some is that Nicodemus later met Joseph of Arimathea at the tomb with the spices and oils he had purchased while Joseph secured the body from pilot.

The Wednesday crucifixion works perfectly - even uncannily so, as you can see the hand of Almighty was involved:

Matt 27:54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
