I also believe in “apparent age” - that God created the universe in a way that it only appears to be older than it is. What would a brand new “baby” rock look like??? When God created Adam, he was already a grown man, not an embryo or even a baby. Same with Eve. Certainly God is able to do all that He says He did and will do.

There is a huge fly in that ointment: the creation itself is avowed to be sufficient testimony to damn an unbeliever for eternity. Now that’s WITH an old earth “appearance.” Darwinism does not rise to a billionth of a percent of the amount of evidence that an old earth does. Darwinism is a straw man.

And so fine, nobody expects Adam or Eve to have a belly button... that is a silly question of false alternatives. A new rock wouldn’t need to look like today’s old rocks.

Have you ever stood at the base of a cliff and noticed all the various layers of rock? Have you ever noted that each layer can contain what appear to be the fossilized remains of life-forms that no longer exist and that those fossils are frequently unique to the layer in which they're found, not appearing in layers above or below their own?

This is my difficulty with accepting a literal interpretation of the account in Genesis. Were the fossils placed in the rock by God to deliberately deceive or confuse, or are we just not provided all the details of previous events in the Bible? My faith isn't lessened because I can't resolve this issue, I simply don't have enough understanding, so I move on.
