My understanding is that you can get to heaven by being good. All you have to do is be as good as God. Therein lies the rub. The first time you hit your thumb with a hammer, you disqualified yourself.

Aha, that's "justification by works of law" in a nutshell! It's the "acquittal" justification referred to in
this thread.
