I suppose that would depend on who you were talking to because my Ukrainian Catholic associates were certain to let everyone know that they WEREN'T Roman Catholic.
They knew full well that the RCC did not consider them *real* Catholics on par with Roman Catholicism. There was a definite looking down on the Ukrainian Catholics by the RCC, and the Ukrainian Catholics knew it.
See, a person concerned with the argument would admit that the term “Roman Catholic” (as this promulgator of lies used it) was mistaken, so the author of the piece was offering as true something that he could not know to be true because it is in fact false.
But since that's undeniable, the admission of the truth of the bankruptcy of this ignorant article is cloaked in a charge — whose truth can NEVER be assessed — about how some of your friends look down on other of your friends. But nobody ever denied that there are Catholics who are sinners. So, your comment is irrelevant and a distraction.
Of course, the REALITY, something your side shows little concern for, is that one of my good Catholic friends — a member of my order, and the president of a chapter in my order — is a Ukrainian Catholic. And another friend is a Ruthenian. (That's why I chose those examples.)
And we don't argue about ‘rites.’ When the Ukrainian Catholic guy came to DC because a few of us wanted to have a little do-it-yourself prayer vigil before election day in 2012, he led the prayers, so we prayed in the Ukrainian manner. Big deal.
But, the FR Protestants “rejoice in the evil,” (cf. 1 Cor. 13:6a) and if there isn't a real evil for them to rejoice in, they will, like the author of this piece, fabricate one.
And when caught in their lie, they will change the subject. So, this isn't about truth. It isn't about Jesus. it's about lies, slanders, and hostility. And that kind of stuff just fails to interest me, except when a victim, usually of Protestant background and a victim of Protestants, comes to me to complain.
So, tell you what: believe whatever you like. Just leave me out of it.
