In 1466 the Mantel bible was printed in Germany in German. It was a translation of the Vulgate and the Catholic Church most definitely did NOT try to suppress it. It was the Catholic version that included the Alexandrian canon and no one tried to suppress it and no one tried to brainwash anyone.
The Catholic Church only intervened later when Luther made up his own versions of the bible that were full of errors, based upon his own opinion and sola fida theology. Sola fida wa NOT found prior to Luther.
