Francis inspires me to teach them within the walls of the Church, where they are protected from confusion until they are taught to engage it, and for me, capable, to step out of those walls and engage the confusion with a new charity to encounter those of good will that probably don’t look at first like they are of good will, and engage them in friendship and conversation. It would create a mess for my kids to encounter this way, so they must stay back for now, but for me it is Jesus’ call and expectation as a follower. Some may not be able to do this, and that is OK, there are so many already knowing Jesus that they are called to befriend and grow with.
