“They were killed simply because they were Christians,” he said.

They were killed because they weren't Muslims, and weren't likely to convert to Islam.

Like Obama ,this Pope will avoid a direct criticism of Islam. -tom .

Thank you and the Pope is correct in proclaiming the slain Coptic Christians as martyrs. All of us who follow Christ, no matter rite or denomination are seen as the enemy to be slain by those Muslims.

Can’t we suspend our inter-Christian squabbling for just a moment to morn the death of fellow Christians, who were slaughtered because they followed our Savior, Jesus?

In this war that a group of Moslems is waging against all of Christianity, we will not be asked if we are Catholic, Protestant or ..., but merely, if you are a Christian you have a choice “to convert or to die.”

As Ben Franklin said at the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence: Either we all hang together or we, most assuredly, will hand separately.”

I’m waiting for air strikes by the Vatican’s elite Swiss air force.

The Vatican will be targeted eventually by Islamic Jihad.

At the end of the footage of the Coptic Christian beheadings the same English-speaking fighter raises his knife and says ISIS would “conquer Rome”.

We heard these same threats over and over, year after year against the United States.
And then 9-11. -Tom

The weak, stupid Pope is enabling the savages every time he washes a Muslim’s foot, or “worships” inside a mosque. What is wrong with him?

His first concern should be God. He needs to call Islam out for being one of the main perpetrators of evil in this world.

[ “this Pope”’s first concern is his flock. ]

And does “his flock” not need to identify and deal with the wolves?

Catholic popes have done so with crusades in the past and ultimately Islam was subdued by the grace of God and intervention of mother Mary.

But I think it took the flock to learn to get on its knees and reform their individual lives to focus on heaven rather than the earhly before God defeated the Muslims.

Anything to criticize the Pope? The man speaks of the blood of martyrs and you complain he doesn’t say what you want him to say? Go fly a kite.

Time for us all to stick together. Let each denomination honor these men in its own way.

The liberals all love to think of Obama as FDR
but before war broke out, FDR talked peace WHILE
preparing for what he KNEW was coming.
Obama is not doing that, IF, I say IF, he were
drilling for oil, building pipelines, building
up our defense industries, and making our economy
strong, one could at least have a hope, but once
again we enter a war unprepared and “unexpectedly”.

Very well said! One reason Constantinople fell to the Muslim Turks in 1453 was that Christian Europe squabbled among themselves instead of uniting and sending aid to that critically important city. As a result, southeastern Europe entered a dark 400 year period of Muslim rule.

There are similarities between then and now. One example is the Ukraine situation. Take your pick as to who is at fault there. But radical islam grows as Christians lob shells at each other.

But there is one important difference between then and now. The Turks of 1453 were relatively civilized. ISIS...not at all.

The same thing that is wrong with European and American politicians. Maybe they caught Muslimitis.

I have never criticized a Pope or the Catholic Church until this naive dangerous Pope came on the scene.

The Pope has influence over many millions of people worldwide and his hands off approach to Islam, and talking about Islam as just another religion, with extremists giving it a bad name is downright dangerous for everybody, not just Catholics.

This Pope is a perfect match for types like Obama and he will be used to obscure what Islam really is all about when Islam is practiced as written in the Koran and Hadiths.
The Pope should know what Islam is about.

Like Obama, this Pope poses a threat to my family and my Country with his behavior, and I will speak out against him, especially when he misses opportunities to show Islam for what it is. - Tom

I am glad you are qualified to judge all that is required to be Vicar of Christ and Bishop of Rome, leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics.

I am also sure of your in-depth study of all of the Holy Father’s remarks, not just those printed by the MSM.

I am also glad you are a mind-reader, particularly skilled in the thoughts of this Pope.

Certainly, you are also a skilled statesman, with the inside angle on all of the behind the scenes info gathered by the over 200 Papal legates, and every diplomat action being undertaken.

In case you missed it, sarcasm. Allow me to restate my initial point: Go fly a kite.

Jump on the team and come in for the big win. Support fellow Christians, especially when they speak out against brutality, murder, and oppression.
