A request by IT security is hardly the same thing as a random government agency coming in nefariously.

I work in IT for a state agency. We have connections to hospitals because that’s the nature of things these days. Hospitals have connections and computers in our state facilities that we’re not allowed to touch. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

This was NOT our equipment. This equipment was installed by three men. We provided them redundant power whips and a dozen CAT6 connections back to our core. We were told to never disconnect the rack for any reason.

IT Security submitted the request for installation, but the hardware was not purchased by nor installed by our company. We were told “it [was] government equipment.” Period.
