“Most countries have socialist, regardless of religious identity.”

My point was that free enterprise came from the USA which was formed by a large variety of Protestants who were able to agree together on a form of government, national laws, and protection of property and individual liberties. To the extent the Christian values of this nation have been abandoned, the nation has declined. No other religion, except possibly Judaism, has had the track record of success that sprang from this nation’s Protestant roots.

“It certainly appears that such feelings emanate from your side as well.”

It is interesting how Catholics offer proof that Protestantism is false because we are not in complete agreement on many things. But then you like to lump us all together and blame us all for the works of those Protestants who committed the same crimes as the Catholic church.

You don’t get to have it both ways.

The main argument Catholics make for the authority of Rome is the single doctrinal view and authority of Rome. Can you show me where the Catholic church / Rome has repented of the crimes of burning people at the stake for printing the Bible? Do you think it was wrong to do this? We still have these Bibles in use today. Do you advocate killing and torturing Bible publishers today?

If not, can you admit the church or Rome committed great sin by doing these things?

National government followed church government.

In the colonies, mostly Protestant, had limited government with few layers. Same with church government.

In the European nations, still with kings who held to ‘divine right’ and not so far removed from Rome theologically and geographically, had many layers of government/nobles, with autocratic monarchs at the top... plus a head of the church who exerted influence.
