This time I agree with him... but I guess I do not know why he said this when he has said in 2013, the Pope was asked about the so-called gay lobby in the Vatican.
If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge? Francis said, a rhetorical question that rocketed around the world.
Maybe he is growing in the job, as he faces real problems and gets info from a wider range of sources,
I think because he rhetorical question requires more thinking than sound-bite thinking, which most people are used to.
We don’t judge people’s hearts, just their actions. As we are all sinners, we don’t judge our neighbors’ hearts, but we should judge our own.
Some people struggle with chastity, some with the idolatry of money, some with petty jealousy. None is turned away from God’s Mercy, if they seek it.
As a sinner, who am I to judge?
Before you agree, maybe you should check that you didn’t get the “incorrect interpretation” from the “Mininstry of Truth.”
Good comparison.
Oh, and every Francis-hater out there who thinks the man can do no right, must have missed this piece also. Along with all of the Catechetical teachings he makes.
But don’t let those things get in the way of a good Francis bash, for those who do it.
Then they would need to unpack the "Who am I to judge.." comment and resolve it with this clear condemnation of the homo agenda. I am sure they will get right on that.
If the nazi comment is really correct and I say that because it does not sound like Francis, the media will have to deal with it. If Fox News does not report this they will lose what little credability they had because it will be summarily ignored by the liberal media. They will have to be forced to admit the Pope compared the radical homosexual movement with the Hitler Youth movement.
“Then they would need to unpack the “Who am I to judge..” comment and resolve it with this clear condemnation of the homo agenda. I am sure they will get right on that.”
Satan’s ministers disguise themselves as Angels of light. They use any number of “good” things to distract us from the completed work of Jesus Christ on the Cross, and from fixing our eyes on HIM—the Author and Perfector of our faith.
I don’t know Francis’ heart, but this performance art between him and the media has all eyes on THEM...not HIM who holds the keys of Death and Hades.
If that is bait - declined.
Immediate conviction from God, rereading my reply: I do the same thing! I allow lesser things to crowd HIM out.
He is supposed to the spiritual leader and help his people live holy lives.. he gave a clear pass in that instance .. sin?? how would the spiritual leader know anything about that ??
He chose "punt" on sodomy and atheism ..that is not "spiritual leadership..
The fact is scripture calls us to judge other..
But if it is a POLITICAL question.. he is right there.. with his socialist action committee
No, I read the article and yes, I think this pope is doing much to confuse people about Catholic teaching.
Look again at the nature of Francis' objections. He opposes ideological colonization primarily, the indoctrination of the homo agenda seems to be a secondary objection. To put it another way, this pope would object to bringing Western values of any kind to third-world countries. He's an oikophobe, a hater of western civilization, just like the rest of the hard Left.
There was a time when I had to abstain from ALL of this board to work on myself. Still yet, I need to be very limited in the Religion forum, as it is a temptation to me.
All sin comes from the heart.
Thank you, don-o. Good advice. I find interaction with FReepers stimulating, but the amount of Pride involved in so many of my replies vexes me. “But God gives us more grace” (James 4:6)...Is He not wonderful? Bless you today!
You miss the point, which is we don’t know the stresses, fears, circumstances, or intention of the sinner (what is truly in their heart). We only know what we objectively observe.
Now he’s gone and done it!
He did no such thing! Go back and read the entire interview, not just the sound bite.
