Today's Scripture
Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. (I Chronicles 28:20, ESV)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Fear not. That is the message David had for his son, Solomon. For many years, David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God told Him that specific job belonged to his son, Solomon. Solomon was young and inexperienced, and even though he knew he had a mandate from God, he was intimidated by the prospect of building a great house of worship, one that would be a dwelling place for the Most High. You can probably understand his apprehension.
But his father David had some good advice for him. He told his son, Forget your fear. God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than the temple you are going to build. He is bigger than any adversity that you might face. So just get busy and do your part and God will do the rest.
Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions. Whatever your individual needs may be, notice the words of David, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.
A Prayer for Today
God, Im excited to see what You have planned for me this year. Whatever I face, I will not be intimidated. I will begin this year by seeing myself as You do happy, healthy, and prosperous. Thank you for the gift of another year. In Jesus name, Amen.
I don’t think you’re getting much support on FR for this guy.
“Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions.”
What is the difference between this and countless numbers of new-age, babyboom, selfhelp, mememe variations of claptrap?
Faith is not an ATM.
Get ready to have your post removed. Mine too. No dialogue on this one. Only monologue.
Name it and claim it!
Disclaimer on your disclaimer: Yes, those are the rules on the religion forum, however I object to any insinuation that FR endorses this person. I think you are stretching the intent of the “devotional” tag.
On this thread, what specifically do you see as FR endorsing Osteen?
If the boss does not support it, why keep posting this thread?
Wow, you spoke. I don’t believe it.
Your “No debate allowed” disclaimer. I don’t think these threads are appropriate as “devotional.”
Ecclesiastes 7:4 "The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure."
I think you forgot the sarc. tag. ‘This’ thread? Like this thread is the only one ever put up regarding the money grubbing false teacher and fraud osteen?
And today's prayer is about courage.
Please let me know if FR is going to regulate what proper religious worship is. I'm happy to include a "FR does not endorse this thread."
Vile lowlife phlegm alert. Followers/worshippers of Idi Amin, Mao, Hitler, Jones, Stalin, Obama, Pot, Rand/Ron Paul, Mohammed, Robert Mugabe, Nicolae Ceausescu salute!!!!!
As I said, I don’t think this guy warrants the “Devotional” tag.
Jim Robinson, This IS a discussion website. What is the point of posting a “devotional” and not allowing any discussion?
I disagree with much of Osteen’s teachings and approach. If people want to go to HIS website and get a daily devotional, more power to them.
But to post it on the best Conservative discussion forum on the net, and allow no comment, that isn’t the purpose of FR.
Ok.
Free republic isn’t a church. It is a conservative discussion forum. You are demanding no discussion on comments made by an unpopular religious figure to many conservatives.
Exactly. I believe that is what is a big part of the problem with this. I don’t know of any other threads that are locked out, from the very start, from other FReepers posting to it. There might be but I sure don’t remember it or them.
