With Reformation Day coming up, this is a good time to recall why the Reformers departed from Roman Catholicism. In our day especially, it seems that many Christians have history-amnesia when it comes to the importance of what God did through the Reformers. During the Reformation, great confusion existed regarding what was, and was not, the true church of Christ. Rome had asserted itself as the true church for centuries, and continues to do so today. However, as the Reformers recognized then, Christians must follow in step today by recalling that joining hands with Rome is a departure from Christ.
To be clear, this is not to say that everyone who sits in a Roman Catholic church is not a Christian. What it is saying is that several changes must occur before Roman Catholicism, by the book, can be considered biblical Christianity. And the men and women of the Reformation understood this, hence their necessary break with Rome. In their case, and ours, joining Christ necessitates breaking with Rome and coming under Christ means coming out from under Rome.
Christians will know that it is time to join hands with Rome when it does the following:
1. Renounce the Papacy.

but no pat answers.
The only pat answer I have is that Jesus is Lord,
Thanks.
Well, let's put that to the test.
Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Now, if scripture is not the only source for what the apostles taught please show another source where the apostles taught the assumption of Mary.
No, it has become the religion bashing tool for self-righteous people that think they, and they alone, are Christians.
Pride is a sin.
But pride being a sin, I fully agree.
Please show from scripture where the apostles taught the keeping of the Sabbath for any New Testament believer.

Perhaps you missed the part where it says "we have preached unto you," not "contained in Scripture." It is the church that preaches. No where in the Bible does it state that it is the only source of truth.
>>How do you change a historical event such as the Day God rested? it can not be changed.<<
Please show from scripture where the apostles taught the keeping of the Sabbath for any New Testament believer.
Security of the believer
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 10:25-30 Jesus answered them, I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.
1 Corinthians 1:4-8 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledgeeven as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among youso that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdenednot that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
For which the Greek, from the Byzantine, is:
2Corinthians 1:21-22 ο δε βεβαιων ημας συν υμιν εις χριστον και χρισας ημας θεος ο και σφραγισαμενος ημας και δους τον αρραβωνα του πνευματος εν ταις καρδιαις ημων
The first word in bold above is bebaion, the idea of confirmation, frequently used in commercial settings to confirm a bargain. Which of course makes sense of the remaining terms used here, which are also elements of a secured contract.
The second word in bold above is sphragisamenos, being sealed is to be marked by the signature, signet ring, or other unique proof of identity, that we belong to God, and this sealing is done by God, who is the one taking action in this verse. We do not and cannot seal ourselves. We do not, by our own powers, have access to Gods signet ring.
The third bolded word above is arrabona, and indicates what we might loosely refer to as earnest money, but in Hebrew culture conveys more the idea of a pledge of covenant, a security given as a guarantee that the deal will go through, though we only receive part payment at the beginning. See ערב for the related Hebrew stem indicating pledge.
No, I didn't miss that part. "That part" is my point. Paul said if someone taught something they didn't they were to be considered accursed. It would therefore be incumbent on Catholics to show some proof that the apostles taught the assumption of Mary or they are to be considered accursed. If Catholics think that scripture is not the only source they need to provide another source for the apostles teaching the assumption of Mary. If you cannot do that I will consider those that teach the assumption of Mary to be accursed by God.
The Mormons believe in a Jesus who is not virgin born, who is a separate god from the Father, and who is the half brother of Lucifer.
Are they saved because they claim to put their faith in Jesus?
Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well.
Do you supersede the apostles?

Just by that scripture you have proven to me that the Sabbath was not a historical event, it did not happen, thank you very much,
And where in the Bible does it say that what Paul taught is only in his letters? Indeed his letters were written to communities that had already received the Gospel orally.
If Catholics think that scripture is not the only source they need to provide another source for the apostles teaching the assumption of Mary.
It is called the Tradition of the living church established by Jesus Christ himself. A prime example is the liturgy. We know from Scripture that the institution and celebration of the Eucharist (the Lord's Supper) was essential to the early faith. Yet we find nowhere in the Scriptures how to celebrate it. This is because the early Christians were taught this before the New Testament was even completed. Nor was it thought necessary that such instruction be included in Scripture. It was something that was handed down (traditur). That the teachings of the Church are infallible is shown in Scripture itself.
Then Jesus approached and said to them, All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. (Matt. 28:18-20)In the Council of Jerusalem we see the Apostles and presbyters invoking the authority of the Holy Spirit directly, not by appealing to Scripture. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it. But you know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you. (John 14:16-17)
But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. (1 Tim 3:15)
>>"if you think a historical event can be changed prove it"<<
If you want to play the semantics game and only infer that it's still imposed that's one thing. Your posts infer it is still imposed. I showed where it is not.
"Catholic" simply means universal, nothing more or less.
*It was founded by Jesus Christ Himself in Mt 16:18.
*It would be built on Simon Peter, Mt 16:18.
*It would be defended by GOD Himself, Mt 16:18-19.
*It would have authority given by Jesus Christ, Mt 16:19,18:17-18.
*It would be guided by the Holy Spirit who will dwell within it, Jn 14:15-17, Act 15:28,16:6.
*It would be one and undivided, Mk 3:24-25.
*It would have one fold and one shepherd, Jn 10:16.
*It would have Priests, Bishops, and Deacons, 1Tim 3:1-13.
*It must have the Holy Eucharist celebration, Jn 6:42-70, Acts 2:42.
*It must be found in all nations, Mt 28:19.
*It must be found in all centuries, Mt 28:20.
*Jesus Christ said He would be with His Church every day, in every year, until the end of the world, Mt 28:20. (This means no gaps in time. )

Thank you for your input.
Happy new year to you and yours.
Are you intentionally trying to be obtuse? Paul said if they didn't teach it the teacher was to be considered accursed. I'm simply giving you the opportunity to show (since you don't want to rely on scripture alone) where it can be found that the apostles taught the assumption of Mary. Can you not do that? If not I am left with only scripture as a reliable source of what they taught.

FYI only: Martin Luther, the defrocked former Catholic priest and theologian, also deleted seven books of the Bible, all in the Old Testament.
These books are accepted by Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox, but are not accepted by Jews or Protestants. These include 1 and 2 Maccabees, Judith, Tobit, Baruch, Sirach, and Wisdom, and additions to the books of Esther and Daniel.
Imagine, deleting the Book of Wisdom. I wonder how Luther thought that he had the authority to do this. Perhaps it was merely hubris.

The Heugonots and Albigensians were considered heretics.
The first heresy fought by the Church was Arianism.
Wikipedia: Arianism is the nontrinitarian, theological teaching attributed to Arius (c. AD 250336), a Christian presbyter in Alexandria, Egypt, concerning the relationship of God the Father to the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Arius asserted that the Son of God was a subordinate entity to God the Father. Deemed a heretic by the Ecumenical First Council of Nicaea of 325, Arius was later exonerated in 335 at the regional First Synod of Tyre, and then, after his death, pronounced a heretic again at the Ecumenical First Council of Constantinople of 381. The Roman Emperors Constantius II (337361) and Valens (364378) were Arians or Semi-Arians.

There have been heretics for a long time and they will continue to rear their Satan-led heads in the future, no doubt.
We humans will NEVER get along the way God wants us to. That is due to ORIGINAL SIN. Oh well. Some folks do try.
