I also find it interesting that he uses the change in the fast requirements. I think he wants others to believe that the changes he is looking to enact are similar changes. He further wants it to look like those that push back on his desires are too “rigid”.

Because changing fasting requirements is so like allowing the divorced and remarried to communion. /s
