“Some deal with the former and some with the latter. The point remains that the need to “discern the body” and eat it “worthily” are references to the physical body of Christ on the cross and not the body of believers.”

Well, no. The complete unit of thought is not the Body of Christ, but correct behavior in relationships among the body of Christ. The sentence structure doesn’t allow your view. The the specific verses you refer to are offered only to support pauls correction and instruction and are structurally in Greek, a sub-point.

The claim you have tried to advance isn’t supported by any of those inspired hermeneutical elements. Sorry buddy.

I stand by my statement.

The point remains that the need to “discern the body” and eat it “worthily” are references to the physical body of Christ on the cross and not the body of believers.

That is because St. Paul makes reference to the words of Christ at the Last Supper where He was talking about His physical body being given up. These references are adjacent to the references to “discerning” and eat “worthily”.
