I am the man, when I have a question about what the Bible says, I ask the Holy Spirit!’ And so ended the conversation rather abruptly, as my Dad’s boss hustled his pastor off to lunch.

the pastor might have pointed out that if 1,000 people ask the Holy Spirit to answer the same petition to each of them personally, and only one answer can be correct.......well, I think that you can figure out how many different interpretations that there would be...HENCE, protestantism. Catholics, on the other hand, realize that the Holy Spirit speaks mainly through the Catholic church and thus, they all get the same CORRECT answer......see how easy it is???

Sure does sound like John is saying we each have the Holy Spirit to help us. Didn't see it limited to just a "church".

John 14:16

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

John 15:26

When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

Ephesians 1:13-14

13In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Yah, that is a lot of balderpoopy...like the guy in the Vatican telling the UN they gotta do something about all this Global Warming crap...I suppose the Holy Spirit told him to get on the global warming bandwagon...as if God Himself can’t control it to His own liking...

And as far as multiple interpretations are concerned, and if only one is right, the others DID NOT get their answer from the Holy Spirit. And frankly, if the Catholic Church gets an answer, it is likely wrong, ‘cause I think the Roman Church hears from a lot of other voices, and maybe not the Holy Spirit’s voice most of the time.

Jesus said, my sheep know my voice...and I do know His voice...and He has given me discernment to know that other voices are not His.
