Funny, don't recall any mention of these "montrances" in the early church.
There’s a great deal within the catholic religion which incorproated whatever symbolism and relics, and false teachings needed to keep the revenues flowing......Purgatory is one of them as are many more.
Unfortunately the indoctrination begins in childhold for most and like a cult often requires a great deal of time to voercome and remove ones-self from those teachings.....coming to Christ as their one and only savior certainly is key.
This image is called "The 'Monstrance' of Our Lady of the Sign, Ark of Mercy".....catholics Mary hovers over the Ark of the Covenant, note the angels kneeling to her with their wings protecting her...The image, to catholics, that Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant and that, because of their assertion that she "contained the uncontainable God," she was herself the first monstrance.

Nor many doctrines of Rome.
Nope, there wasn't, there was, however, a mention of "take and eat of this, THIS IS MY BODY, and Take and drink, THIS IS MY BLOOD" so you deny Christ's words, and concern yourself with a decorative gold monstrance...BRILLIANT !!!!
