Yes, the 10 Commandments is what is the most important aspect of the Torah. Those are to be observed. The rest is ritual.
He said “all of the commandments, and the prophets” not just the ten commandments.
Those that love him keep them, he said so.
.
WHHHAAAAATTTTT???
Do you know what the Torah is???
Call it what you want, but why do you push Jewish observance for? The gentles have been grafted to the family tree by the sacriface of Christ and are under grace.
That is what Jesus said, observe the 10 Commandments, that is it.
No, you change his words, that is prohibited.
He said “all the law”
.
I am done now with this debate. Let us agree to disagree, okay?
We just repeat what Yeshua said, your ‘debate’ is with him, he said it.
.
So which of the Apostolic letters do you accept? Any? You’ll have to toss out the ones where St. Paul calls himself the “Father in Christ” of the recipients, all the ones that use the word episcopos, and the Apocalypse of St. John, which as I noted was address to seven bishops.
Honestly you’re the sort of person that makes me adopt Tertullian’s attitude that those outside the Church have no right to appeal to the Church’s books.
Peter had comments for those such as yourself:
2Peter 3:
[15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
[16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
.
I have a question. Out side of the Ten Commandments, what specifically are Gentiles to practice? Give examples.
That is exactly right...
it is really amazing how much information is in the Book. Every time you think you get it, another layer peels back, and it is all brand new again. I don't know how anyone can simply discard 2/3rds (Tanakh) of it, and assume to speak authoritatively from the last third (Brit Hadasha). I am currently re-reading yet again, with a bend toward genealogy, and a focus on the meanings of the names therein - Missler did a thing where he took the names of the pre-deluvian patriarchs, strung them together in order, and came up with an extraordinary paragraph:
Adam =Man
Seth =Appointed
Enosh =Mortal
Kenan =Sorrow;
Mahalalel =The Blessed God
Jared =Shall come down
Enoch =Teaching
Methuselah =His death shall bring
Lamech =The despairing
Noah =Rest
"Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring (the) despairing rest."
That got me going, because I have not paid close attention to the names - I have been becoming aware of that for years, but it has come to a point, and that is my study angle this time through. Even the begots and begets that I have admittedly skimmed over are filled with meaning! Understanding who's who is another tangent.
Your words have spoken to me to study the matriarchal line too! Thanks for that.
Not true at all - their names in one form or another are permeated in our culture - as are their rites and stories. It is the name of YHWH that is forgotten and remains unmentioned (as the prophets said would happen). It is His ways that are lost to the world - and that you can't hear me, that I sound strange to you, that is proof of the fact.
LOL! The thing with irony is that it is so ironic. : )
Yup. You needed *boggles eyes* there. : )
The Feasts weren't meant to be a burden to the people, they were meant as a celebration of who God is. The "burdens" you see in the Feasts, were set as reminders of God's holiness, of his mercy, of his deliverance and providence.
BRAVO! And the same with the Sabbath! YHWH promised special blessing to those who would keep Sabbath, and that, in my life, is very true! The Sabbath is a joy for me. I look forward to it daily, and become more excited as it approaches. I LOVE shabbat. I am heading out, here in a minute, to buy what I need before dark, And as darkness falls, the solemnity of the sabbath day descends like a cozy blanket. Stresses just fall away, and the whole day is kept in peace, study, and closeness to YHWH. There is a bench up the mountain, a beautiful vista overlook, that looks down toward my house and beyond to the westward range, and I will walk up there and sit to read and talk to Him. It is my favorite thing of all, that time!
You mean 8 of the 10 commandments, right?
Sorry, didn't see this till just now...
The feasts are God’s commandment for all who dwell on the Earth. (technically all of Torah is)
The feasts are the only way we can “watch” for his coming, and we are commanded to watch. (Revelation 3)
Once you are following his Torah, you are not a “gentile” any longer. That is the sole definition of Gentile: not abiding by Torah.
.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
What could be more clear than that?
.
I see a difference in Gods Law (written by God on stone dealing with our moral conduct and responsibilities) and the ordinances and ceremonial law (wrote by Moses dealing with material things) . Col. 2:14 - 17 indicates these (ordinances and ceremonial laws) are “shadow” things that expired at the cross. While following dietary and washings are good for the body, they no longer appear to be a requirement.
