The Mary presented by modern day Catholicism bears very little resemblance to the Mary presented in Scripture.
The Catholic Church does not teach sola scriptura. Either way, Mary is still the one who is Jesus’ mother. She deserves respect for that. Remember when Jesus was found in the Temple: when He went home, “He was obedient unto them,” that is, St. Joseph and Mary, His mother. Jesus respected her as such. And it would be against the Nature of Jesus not to love- especially not to love His own mother. Should she not be respected, if not loved, simply for His sake? Would she not, in Heaven, love all those who love her Son?
