I would argue that if you have a sequence of events (as you do on days 1-6), you have time. However, it is true that until Adam, there's no reason for the Bible to track time in human units.
And without going into too much detail at the moment, I would point out that the original Hebrew words for "day," "morning," "evening," etc. have somewhat different ranges of meaning than you might assume from the English translation. As a matter of fact, as my ability to read the Hebrew has increased, so has my comfort with Old-Earth Creationism.

It was just a thought I had that hasn't borne fruit yet. Thanks again, though.
So many secularly-educated Christians stumble over the time element of the Creation and tend to incorporate modern science's ideas as at least equal to Scripture in their belief systems.
It tends to be the older believers and the very young that can readily accept Scripture as is without so-called scientific evidence.
I would suggest not getting hung up over the translations or meanings of language or even their inaccurate translations, as some scholars do. Remember, Jesus Christ is the Word and the Word of God is alive and quick like a dual-edged sword (able to cut right to the point) and He is full of wonder!
The Word of God is much much more than mere man's scribbles (or inked impressions) on paper, parchment or animal skins.
