Nice try ES but the opening of "Against heresies" Makes it clear he was speaking out against Valentinus and the Gnostics he led.
the title of Chapter 1: Absurd ideas of the disciples of Valentinus as to the origin, name, order, and conjugal productions of their fancied Æons, with the passages of Scripture which they adapt to their opinions.
Here at the end of that chapter he speaks out against sola Scriptura: and so they proceed when they find anything in the multitude of things contained in the Scriptures which they can adopt and accommodate to their baseless speculations.

YOu might consider getting the CD from CCEL. They have the writings of all the Early Church Fathers as well as numerous writings by Luther, Calvin, Zwingli etc...
The great thing is that there is no editorializing by them on any of the writings.
