My dad was also in WWII at Iwo Jima but he did not make a career as your father did, and I really respect so called “lifers”, had two uncles that were “lifers” and one nephew working on it now with 16 years in. I am a Vietnam Vet myself.
What set me off is you responding to me as a noob to stop the vanities. If you look at the dates of joining I have been a member of this forum for over 16 years.
And I am not probably old enough to be your “sire” but I am not young enough to be your Son.
