Billy Graham Celebrates 96th Birthday With New Film Announcment: 'I Know I'm Going to Heaven,'

Billy Graham is ringing in his 96th year with friends and family on Friday, and fellow faith leaders are sending an outpouring of well wishes to the famed evangelical preacher today.

In a far cry from last year's birthday celebration involving over 800 guests, Graham is marking his birthday this year with a quiet celebration at his Montreat, NC home, according to a press release issued on Nov. 7. Will Graham, the grandson of Billy Graham, was unavailable for comment to The Christian Post, but his father Franklin assured fans that the 96-year-old is doing well.

"Although his physical condition keeps him homebound, he remains interested in current events and the ongoing work of the ministry that he began more than 60 years ago," said Billy Graham's eldest son.

The president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association also announced the debut of "Heaven," the latest "My Hope with Billy Graham" film, which features a never-before-seen message from Billy.

"Opportunities like 'My Hope' and the 'Heaven' film are ways that we can help my father to continue the work that God called us to do," Franklin added. "Please pray for my father, and for those who will watch this film, that they too may know the peace found in Jesus Christ."

Recorded last year, the message conveys a still-passionate Billy Graham who discussed his imminent death.

"I know I'm going to heaven. I'm looking forward to it with great anticipation," Graham says in the film before explaining how people can share that same faith.

Despite his struggle with deteriorating eyesight and hearing, Graham still enjoys daily devotions, Bible reading and prayer with his staff, as well as visits with family and close friends. On his 96th birthday, many of Graham's friends, including Saddleback Church's Rick Warren, posted special messages on social media.

"Happy #96th to my oldest mentor #BillyGraham. Thanks for guiding, defending and loving me for 35 yrs," the pastor wrote on Twitter.

Indeed. What does God’s word say about salvation by Grace. Did you see the expanded words of Graham where he credits God’s Grace for his assurance and not his own works?

Trust in Christ to make you a new creature. Not in Purgatory to wash you clean, but the Blood of Christ. The one time, for all it is finished sacrifice.

I understand your frustration in trying to reason using God’s Word with our FRoman poster.

Read all his posts. The trend is to disrupt the thread with the usual RC “Potemkin village” propaganda.

The sin is pretending to know things one can’t possibly know.

Or is the sin denying revelation which tells us different. In fact denying the promises of God is the very definition of denying Him and not having faith. The apostle John said the following:

1 John 5:

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Go to a Catholic university and let me know if the Gospel is preached there.

How many subjects are you going to introduce on one thread?

Hey you used every insult except trying to link David Koresh to Protestants/Evangelicals. So I applaud your restraint somewhat.

Are there any other verses other than a few in Matthew, two in John and a few in Luke chapter 1 you would like to back up your assertions with? Or is that the limit of your assertions?

Amen! Worthy is the Lamb.

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:9-11)

Actually only once.

I thank you for your perseverance on this thread. But you are dealing with the “Catholic talking points” posters. As with leftists they believe if they repeat something over and over again, it must be true. They also believe for every post they make time is taken off in Purgatory.

So let’s not get in the way of their time off Purgatory for posting. Let’s help them. Keep responding!

I get the impression that some when reading these posts see these verses for the first time in their lives. Yet sit in a church for decades.

NOW AT THE LORDS SUPPER JESUS PROCLAIMED to drink his blood and eat his body in remembrance of him....THE LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD....eternal life is from his blood....shed on the cross.

During the Last Supper were the disciples literally eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Christ while He stood before them? Even before His actual sacrifice on the Cross?

Were the disciples partaking of Christ's glorified body before the resurrection as He stood before them in His not yet glorified body?

What do Catholic theologians say about evolution and the inerrancy of Holy Scriptures?

Do Catholic theologians believe and teach the miracles recorded in Exodus are literally true or coincidental natural occurrences?

Do the Catholic theologians believe and teach “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”?

Finally please address the multitude of posts quoting a multitude of passages clearly proclaiming salvation is by God’s Grace and the multitude of passages affirming we can be assured of our glorification at Christ’s second coming.

Please spare me and others your diversions and assertions.

Nice bit of dumbing down. Believers? Define this?

Well Paul was pretty clear who he was addressing:

Romans 1 King James Version (KJV)

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is what I mean by the “rot” that results from a denial of Petrine authority.

You mean when the Eastern church told Rome to get lost? They seem to be thriving. They have done quite well without Rome.

I'm curious. Which apostle passed on the oral tradition to allow civil emperors to remove and appoint bishops? To preside over councils? To use armies to remove bishops? To use armed thuggery to establish a See? Where can I find those traditions passed from Peter to future bishops of Rome?

No, you think you have the “authority” to interpret Scripture by taking passages from here and there, and referencing pedestrian blogs on the subject. All against an avalanche of theological writings from Augustine to Aquinas to Newman to Benedict that would fill college libraries.

Frankly I hope you went to public school because my Catholic HS debate mentor (Catholic priest) would not be impressed.

The taking of passages "here and there" is what you did. You quote a few verses from Luke 1, a couple of verses from Matthew and then assert phantom Catholic theologians you don't quote. Yet you have no rebuttals or affirmations of the plethora of Scriptural passages posted you by the bushels. Instead, you try to deny the plain literal messages conveyed.

No need for born again!

That's not what Jesus said and I'll take HIS word about it over the Catholic church's.

John 3:3-8 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”

Jesus answered,“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Though today we do. Wasn't this to be for all time?
