Who is subversive, the one who follows the Church instituted by Christ at the Last Supper, and has been led by Peter and his successors, or the one who has decided to go their own way?

The “Church,” the universal (catholic) Church, is made of all Christians. All Christians MUST have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, or there Christianity is hollow.

You choose not to believe the Roman Catholic Church, as that is your right as a human being. Faith is a gift from the Holy Spirit, and as you seek the Truth (not just a what, but a who) and honestly try to live out the Great Commission, who am I to judge?

However, we will have to agree to disagree about what you consider fact, and what is verifiable through the centuries.

I hope and pray you continue to have the zeal for Christ you demonstrate. I also hope and pray you will consider looking at books by Dr. Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, and Jimmy Akin, who, like you, have the fire for Christ, and come from evangelical backgrounds.

Good try.

So the Catholic church started at the last supper?

Or at Pentecost as Catholics contend? Or when Jesus told Peter he would build His church on the Biblical Rock, which would be Himself?

So I would say false statements such as I just read are subversive.

Illustrates "going their own way" instead of following scripture.

The “Church (I'm assuming meaning the Catholic denomination,”): the universal (catholic) Church, is made of all Christians.

Close.

The church, the universal catholic church spoken of in the Bible, is made up of every born again believer that has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

No need to join the Catholic belief system to be part of Jesus' church.

You choose not to believe the Roman Catholic Church, as that is your right as a human being.

Well how gracious of you to recognize that!

I choose to believe Jesus, as he is the Way, the Life, and the Truth.

Once I found the Truth, Jesus, I no longer seek the ultimate truth. That is the "who" you speak of, glad to see you understand that.

"...who am I to judge?"

That's what I was thinking as I read your cleverly disguised judgment of my beliefs. I forgive you.

I hope and pray you continue to have the zeal for Christ you demonstrate.

No problem there, it's stuck with me for many decades so far...

As far as the books you recommend, I'm too busy with the Bible for reading about men that have been sidelined from their original faith.

I am sorry for those that left their simple belief in Jesus to become entangled in the falsehoods and rituals of Catholicism, whose central figure these days seems to be Mary.

May God bring you to his simple truth so you may be filled with the Joy of having Jesus in you and you in Jesus.
