Sisters of Charity March for Climate Change
Just Love Newsletter ^ | October, 2014 | Editor: Fr. Terrence Moran - Layout: Donna Sartor

On Sunday, September 21, a group of Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth and friends joined 400,000 other people in New York City for the People’s Climate March. The huge, hope-filled gathering was the largest political demonstration around the climate crisis in history. We marched behind the banner shown below – The Vincentian Family for Climate Justice- For the Sake of Earth-For the Sake of Those Made Poor.

Many bystanders cheered as they saw our banner - including a woman wearing the traditional nurse’s cap from St. Vincent’s hospital – modeled after the cornette of the Daughters of Charity. The crowd was very diverse and we were especially encouraged to see so many young people singing protest songs that many of us remember from the 1960’s.

One simple action you can take to join the groundswell of popular support for effective governmental action on the climate crisis is to visit the Our Voices website. Their goal is for millions of people of faith and moral belief to SIGN and PRAY in their own tradition for the Paris 2015 UN Climate Summit to succeed where all past talks have failed.  By signing you express your love and concern for all our children, for vulnerable people and our precious planet. http://ourvoices.net/

I too went to grammar school with the Sisters of Charity....ours were for the most part wonderful, but as you got up to the upper grades they became a bit more strict.....

I believe God wants us to use our earth wisely, but we also need jobs, stability brought by families having enough money to get by and thrive....

400,000 people with the aggregate IQ of 12.

NEVER,EVER, downplay the I.Q. of a Catholic nun...they know more than you'll ever know because they have virtually nothing else to do, in their spare time, than read and learn.....besides, they will rap your knuckles real hard if you piss them off!!!!!!

Does the church fund this nonsense with $$ from the Sunday collection plates? >>

no, not at all, the nuns work in schools and hospitals, as teachers, administrators, doctors and nurses, etc. earning salaries which are paid to the order, they in turn get a stipend of about $50 per month, in their defense, they do work hard all year round, some into their 80’s. The only problem is that they are left wingers, have an agenda and don’t do much of anything for the anti-abortion cause, and some aren’t happy, it’s a shame and very sad. Religious orders (Jesuits; Franciscans; etc.) are primarily on their own.

I’m all for climate change.

That’s why I left the cold climate of NY, and moved to Florida.

When it comes to the type of “climate change” those people talk about, I’ll bet the the vast majority of them have no clue about the science, and how much of it is pure junk.

Dumb evil sisters, don’t they know that we could have wiped out extreme starvation planet wide for the a fraction of the money we are devoting to AGW?

modern nuns are alas too often into these things.

It’s a lot easier to arrange marches for “social Justice” than to teach 50 first graders or nurse dying patients.

Just saying.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
