Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

Yes, I do. Apostolic teaching: “We must obey God and not men.” Do you really think the legislation, judgments or commands of any temporal, secular government trump Christ teaching through His Church?<>
The State is God’s instrument only when it is not acting as an Anti-Church.
let's see now, mother of Jesus is in the bible.....Jesus is God....therefore mother of God IS in the bible...there's no need to always refer to Him one way only...either way will do just fine. Mother of Jessus = Mother of God.
stuck on that, aren't you???
Not so. Scripture, although it lists specific offices which are essential --- deacons (diaconoi), priests (presbyeroi), and bishops (espiscopoi)--- nowhere limits the number of offices. Scripture, unlike the U.S. Constitution, does not set up a U.S. type government with balance of power (as in federalism), separation of power (as in distinct, immutable powers distributed across the executive, legislative, and judicial branches) and enumerated powers (roles and responsibilities limited to those explicitly set forth.)
How I wish, by the way, that our U.S. governmet followed its wn Constitution!!
But back to the subject at hand: Christ's church is not so much an organization, as an organism. St. Paul returns again and again to that explanation, in speaking of the Members of the Body of Christ. The Church is at liberty to organize herself as necessary, to carry out her mission.
You render unto Caesae only that which is Caesar's! No More!!
Scripture says that Jesus turned the bread and wine into His Body and Blood. Why don't protestants believe that?
Liberals are one trick ponies. It is the same as when they play the race card.
no they don't....anyone can become a saint, the Catholic church merely states that for a few (named saints)..there is ample evidence to declare that they are in Heaven and therefore saints.....all who are in Heaven are Saints.
No it doesnt. Jesus said they were drinking the "fruit of the vine". Did Jesus drink His own blood and eat His own flesh?
>>Why don't protestants believe that?<<
Because Jesus said it was spiritual not physical.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
you misinterpret, at best, what the Catholic church is....it is the instrument, established by Christ Himself, to be His physical presence on Earth. Through the Catholic Church, He expects His word to be spread among all mankind (hence the name catholic or universal)...The Catholic church is the actual presence of Christ, In fact He is physically within every Catholic church on Earth...just look for the little red light which indicates the presence of the Eucharist, the actual Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.....very sad that you do not enjoy that same presence...
You are wrong.
where???? besides, the Catholic church teaches that she was concieved without sin, not that she never erred throughout her life. She may have had some pretty bad thoughts toward those who were beating and crucifying her Son.
that would be redundant, therefore there would be no need to change anything.
they do follow Him alone, and by the way, say thanks to rhe Catholics for providing you with that quote from John....without the Catholic church, you would never have read that quote nor would anyone else have.
possibly, there is such thing as a Baptism of desire.
no they don't...they merely proclaim that certain people are definitely in Heaven....all in Heaven are Saints
Catholics have been shown often enough that presbyeroi is not priest.
I don't know why a Catholic would do that but..........yes.
All believers living are called saints as well.
