And if the word Prot is a slur, rather than just an abbreviation in this abbreviation-prone medium, why do you use it?Because mackerel snappers love it?

2. Didnt call non-Catholics lackwits; called some specific Protestants of my acquaintance lackwits. The comment, quite obviously, refers to them alone.Oh?
Here is your EXACT quote from #556:
I can handle far more than those lackwits can hand out.
Once again; you've been shown to FORGET what you actually typed when called on it.

After years and years of insult, untruths, and replies that betray a total lack of comprehension, tempers fray.I'd suggest leaving that church, as it apparently fails at getting folks to modify their attitudes, actions and/or lifestyle.

It is a fundamental principle of Western Civilization that the guy who punches somebody in the nose is guilty in a way than the punched guy who punches back is not. A little recognition of that principle would be welcome.Turn the other cheek then.

As in, If one wants to take insult badly enough, insult will be taken whether it actually exists or not.

Mark 9:2-13 New International Version (NIV)
The Transfiguration
2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three sheltersone for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!
8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
The text FAILS to say from whence M&E came from; neither where they went...

Where is Jesus quoted to say ‘do as I say, but not as I do.” in scripture.
The Apostles were certainly present, why would they be present for such a conversation but not be permitted to emulate the behavior of Christ in this regard?

Lest I totally kick out one of the legs holding up your faith. I’m going to stop pointing out where Jesus contradicted the old testament teaching, even of Moses.
You obviously are very serious about literal observance of the old testament, except perhaps when you aren’t.

She gave birth to the Christ at considerable risk of being divorced and stoned to death.
All without the benefit of witnessing a single miracle or sermon.
Anyone have a similar story?

I’m sure Mary felt silly... explaining her story about an angel appearing and the Holy Spirit coming upon her.
It’s just another way we try to emulate her in surrendering to the will of God.

>>Not likely, since John 3:13 clearly states that no man has ascended to heaven.<<
Jesus was the only one to ascend into heaven. We are told however in 2 Kings 2 that Elijah was "taken up" into heaven.

Your sign up date was in 1998 - almost from the start of Free Republic. I'm wondering why you don't seem to understand the RF rules after all this time. Can you explain, please?

>> “One such would be that the Old Covenant was over, and the teachings of Moses and Elijah ignored, henceforth.” <<
.
But that would be contrary to the word!
Hebrews 4:
[1] Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[2] For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
So you see, the difference is not between the OT and NT, but whether one has faith or not.
Yeshua's words in Matthew 5 will not be repealed, Torah is his way as long as the Earth and Heavens remain.

It does say that he was taken, but how do you know is was to Heaven?
The words of the gospel of John are very specific.
