How does it make your point nicely? Your point is demonstrably FALSE ... The writing cited was published in 1788, he wrote it in 1744 ... which demonstrates that he taught this long before 1788.
Perhaps Wiki is not the best place to get your information. It is apparent you didn't know about Edwards, you Wiki'ed him and saw the quote from 1788 ...
